Hamish has been a Registered Valuer since 1997. He is an Associate of the New Zealand Institute of Valuers and a Senior Member of the Property Institute of New Zealand. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business studies (VPM), a post graduate Diploma of Applied Finance and Investment and has completed Level 1 of the Chartered Financial Analyst programme.
Hamish’s valuation career began in the 1990's in the Waikato town of Matamata, where he carried out residential, lifestyle, commercial and rural assignments for a variety of clients.

Over nearly thirty years, Hamish has held senior positions in large UK property companies, as well as New Zealand listed property companies Precinct (NZX:PCT) and Property for Industry (NZX:PFI). He has worked in commercial and residential development, funds management, been an advisor to central government on public housing policy and worked with Auckland Council on urban renewal projects.
More recently, Hamish returned to valuation where he was in private practice advising on Auckland commercial office and industrial assets. In 2021 he began Island Valuation & Advisory on Waiheke Island, where he has been a permanent resident for twenty years. He is also available to work in other wider geographic areas and nationally on rental disputes and compulsory acquisition.
